New website for Glebelands Market Garden

Glebelands crow image extract from website

Glebelands organic market garden is located in the outskirts of Cardigan in West Wales, on a gentle, well-drained north facing slope with a mild, maritime micro-climate. As well as growing their own veg, they have an on-site farm shop, which generates enough local custom to keep the business running, even though the economics of small scale food production is really not that good in the UK!

We have created their new website using the lightweight Backdrop CMS. It is primarily a brochure site for the market garden, but has other interesting content as well, including news updates and how-to guides. We think the site looks great, and are particularly pleased with the front page. The two large polytunnels in the main image work really well with the Glebelands logo superimposed on top. The original image had a big pile of rural paraphernalia (aka "junk") piled up between the two tunnels, which was a complete distraction, so we used our photo editing skills to remove this and replace it with vegetation - which took a while but was well worth the effort.

Another graphical feature of the site that we are particularly pleased with is the Glebelands crow which we perched on top of the site's footer section. We feel that this small intervention adds a lot of character to the site :-)

You can take a peek at the Glebelands website here, and if you are ever in the Cardigan area we strongly recommend you pop in and buy some veg, their only a couple of miles from Poppit Sands, which is a well known surfer beach.
